Q1:
What sort of artwork do i need for embroidery?
Embroidery artwork needs to be digitized, this process
turns your artwork into stitches and we can then save it as
a file that can be read by our embroidery machines. Saving
your artwork as a .jpg is fine for embroidery but make sure
you save it at a high resolution, 300 dpi should be fine.
You can also save it as a vector image and we will convert it
for you, for more information on this go to our
artwork
section.
The cost of converting your image to an embroidery file depends
on the number of stitches your design will be. Most logos
are around 4,000 - 8,000 stitches but you can't work out how
many stitches it will be yourself. Email your artwork to
artwork@birkdalestudios.co.uk
and we will let you know
the number of stitches and price of the artwork.
If you are coming to use having had you design embroidered
by someone else always ask them if you can have the file,
we cant guarantee it will be compatible with our machine's
but it's always worth a try.
Q2: Do you have a minimum order quantity?
With embroidery orders we do not have a minimum order value
although naturally you will pay more for 1 off's or very short
runs compared to longer runs, just email or phone us for prices.
Q3: Can I have any garment embroidered?
Some garments, especially very thin materials are not really
suitable for embroidery, if your not sure and need advice
phone or email.
Q4: What's
the advantages and disadvantages of embroidery?
The main advantage to embroidery
is the end result. You tend to fined that an embroidered image
has a look and feel of a quality product. This is of course
not always the case and some designs may well lend themselves
better to being printed. Embroidery is also durable
and you can have multicolour designs at no extra cost.
The main disadvantages of embroidery is the cost as it does
tend to be more expensive then screen printing. As well as
this some fabrics are not really suitable for embroidery and
size can also be an issue. Very large designs can overpower
a garment with a bulky embroidery image on it. Also large
design will normally be made up of many thousand of stitches
and so take longer to produce and are very expensive.
Embroidery in general is best suited for logos and badges,
but of course exceptions do apply so its always worth asking
us first for advice.
